Acceptable Use Policy
Last updated: November 17 2025
This Acceptable Use Policy explains how BW Broadband customers may use our network and services. It protects our customers, our network, and the communities we serve. By using the service, you agree to this policy.
1) Who this applies to
This policy applies to all customers, users, guests, and devices that use BW Broadband internet or related services, including managed Wi-Fi and voice if purchased.
2) General rules
-
Follow all laws and regulations.
-
Do not harm the network, other users, or third parties.
-
Use the service as intended for your plan type. Do not resell or share the service outside your premises without written consent.
3) Prohibited activities
You may not use the service to:
-
Break the law or help others do so.
-
Infringe copyrights or trademarks, including peer-to-peer sharing of unauthorized content.
-
Send spam or junk messages. This includes email, texts, calls, and automated traffic.
-
Run open mail relays, open proxies, or similar services that allow abuse.
-
Try to gain unauthorized access to any system, account, or data.
-
Scan, probe, or test the network or other systems without permission.
-
Distribute malware, ransomware, spyware, or engage in phishing.
-
Harass, threaten, or defame others, or promote violence or hate.
-
Operate high-risk services that threaten network stability, such as traffic amplifiers or public VPN exit nodes, without written consent.
-
Overwhelm the network with sustained traffic that degrades service for others.
4) Email and messaging
-
Do not send unsolicited bulk messages.
-
Use accurate sender information and valid reply addresses.
-
Honor unsubscribe requests.
-
Keep mailing lists opt-in and clean.
-
Configure SPF, DKIM, and DMARC for domains you use to send mail.
5) Servers and hosting
Residential plans do not allow public servers that generate heavy traffic. Business plans may run servers if they follow this policy, applicable laws, and any plan limits. The customer is responsible for patching and securing hosted services.
6) Security
-
Use strong passwords and keep devices up to date.
-
Change default credentials on routers, cameras, and IoT devices.
-
You are responsible for activity that occurs on your connection. Secure your Wi-Fi and guest access.
-
If you suspect a compromise, disconnect the affected device and contact support.
7) Network management and performance
To provide a good experience for all users, BW Broadband may use reasonable network management. Examples include traffic shaping during unusual congestion, blocking known malicious domains or ports, and rate limiting abusive connections. We do not block lawful content or applications and we do not throttle specific services based on content.
8) Bandwidth and data usage
Most plans do not include caps. Very high or abnormal usage that harms others may lead to a request to reduce usage, a move to a different plan, or other action as described in Section 11.
9) Wi-Fi details for managed service
If you purchase managed Wi-Fi, we install and manage the gateway and optional mesh units. Wi-Fi performance depends on building materials, layout, and client devices. We do not guarantee coverage in every area. We will optimize placement during install.
10) Voice services and 911
If you use voice service, 911 depends on power and broadband. Keep your service address current. If power or broadband is out, 911 may not work. Consider backup power if you need continuous phone access.
11) Enforcement
BW Broadband may investigate suspected violations. We may warn, filter, rate limit, suspend, or terminate service to protect the network or comply with law. Serious abuse may be referred to law enforcement. You are responsible for any charges and fees that result from misuse.
12) Copyright complaints (DMCA)
If you believe your copyrighted work has been used without permission, send a DMCA notice to our designated agent with the required information. We may remove or disable access to the content and notify the customer. Repeat infringements may result in termination.

You may access services and content provided by others. BW Broadband is not responsible for third party services, their availability, or their policies.
